Alessandro D’Aquila
Before Language / Prima del Linguaggio, an exhibition by Alessandro D’Aquila curated by Simone Marsibilio, explores a dimension of poetry that precedes the word.
At the core of the project, the artist presents the Tavole Ottometriche Poetiche, works that combine text, mark, and Braille to transform language into a visual and tactile experience. The practice focuses on that primal moment in which emotions and intuitions emerge prior to verbal expression.
In dialogue with poets such as Dante Alighieri, Federico García Lorca, Jacques Prévert, Robert Frost, and Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, the exhibition highlights a shared poetic root that transcends language. It unfolds as a journey into the “before” of language, where poetry arises as an intuitive, sensory gesture.
