Giulio Malinverni
Natura morta, Natura viva is Giulio Malinverni’s solo exhibition, presented in the Project Room at Ca’ Pesaro, curated by Elisabetta Barisoni in collaboration with Marignana Arte. The exhibition brings together a cycle of works created on stone — marble, alabaster, and onyx — through which the artist reclaims an ancient practice, that of painting on stone, reinterpreted here as a field of inquiry into the relationship between image and matter. In Malinverni’s works, stone is not merely a support, but the generative principle of the composition: veins, patterns, and chromatic nuances guide the painterly intervention, giving rise to a tension suspended between nature and artifice, mineral stillness and organic vitality.
Through an essential painterly gesture that follows and reveals the intrinsic qualities of the stone, the artist suggests a profound continuity between the mineral, vegetal, and animal realms. The exhibition thus becomes a poetic investigation into metamorphosis, perception, and the possibility of recognising a latent form of life even in what appears motionless.
