Alberto Gianfreda is one of the artists participating to the group show Come il casco per i kamikaze, curated by Davide Crippa and Alberto Zanchetta, at the MAC in Lissone.
The idea for this project takes inspiration from a little collection of white vases that one of the curators preserves in his mother house.
As these furnishing have never had a utilitarian function, Crippa and Zanchetta asked themselves if an empty vase is the equivalent of the helmet worn by kamikaze: an unuseful object. The curators agreed to affirm that the container does not have an ornamental function: on the contrary, it is appropriate to sacrifice the floral element so that each vase reflects its own semantic content.
Between the artists involved in the exhibition, there are exponents of visual arts and design. Ivan Baj, Gianluca Codeghini, Alberto Gianfreda, Christian Gonzebach, Suzanne Kutter, Alberto Mugnaini, Marcello Panza, Andrea Salvatori and Alessandro Zambelli have accepted the invitation to expose forbidden to use vases, of which it is possible to appreciate shapes and intentions, techniques and materials.

The exhibition will be on view until April, 21.
Alberto Gianfreda è tra gli artisti partecipanti alla mostra collettiva Come il casco per i kamikaze, a cura di Davide Crippa e Alberto Zanchetta, presso il MAC di Lissone.
L’idea di questo progetto prende spunto da una piccola collezione di vasi bianchi, che uno dei due curatori conserva su uno scaffale della casa materna. Poiché queste suppellettili non hanno mai soddisfatto una funzione utilitaristica, Crippa e Zanchetta si sono chiesti se, in effetti, un vaso vuoto non sia l’equivalente del casco indossato dai kamikaze. Vale a dire, un oggetto inutile. I due curatori sono così convenuti nell’affermare che il contenitore non esplica una funzione ornamentale, al contrario: è opportuno sacrificare l’elemento floreale affinché ogni vaso rispecchi il proprio contenuto semantico. Tra gli autori coinvolti in questa mostra, si distinguono esponenti sia delle arti visive, sia del design. Ivan Baj, Gianluca Codeghini, Alberto Gianfreda, Christian Gonzebach, Suzanne Kutter, Alberto Mugnaini, Marcello Panza, Andrea Salvatori e Alessandro Zambelli hanno infatti accettato l’invito a esporre vasi interdetti all’uso, di cui si potranno però apprezzare forme e intenzioni, tecniche e materiali.
