Matteo Mandelli
Materia e Codice
Marignana Project presents Materia e Codice, a solo exhibition by Matteo Mandelli, curated by Simone Sensi and developed within the exhibition programme of the first edition of the Berlendis Venice Art Prize, of which the artist is among the winners.
Through a multidisciplinary practice spanning installation, sculpture, performance and digital media, Mandelli investigates the relationship between human beings and technology, exploring how digital devices and systems increasingly shape perception, memory and individual behaviour. The exhibition brings the physical and immaterial dimensions into dialogue, questioning the relationship between direct experience and technological mediation.
The exhibition brings together works from the Cyber Carpets, The Contact and The Algorithm Creed series. Persian carpet patterns intersect with electronic circuits, LCD screens are engraved and transformed into unpredictable surfaces, while technology becomes an interlocutor through which notions of trust, listening and authority are questioned. Materia e Codice reflects on how technological systems are no longer simply tools, but increasingly participate in shaping our relationships, rituals and experience of reality.
